Thumb Latch
Also known as a Norfolk latch, Suffolk latch, and a number of other names, this fastener is designed specifically for use on thin batten and ledged doors. Most latches of this character consist of a plate or carrier with an integral bridge shaped handle and a hinged lever that runs through the thickness of the door to engage with the latch. The handle plate is always mounted on the outside of the door that is, the swing side on which the door opens. The handle part is gripped while the thumb of the same hand presses down on the lever. This action causes the latch to disengage from the catch. The good thing about a unit of this type is its simple, last forever structure and the fact that it is very easy to fit.

Tower Bolt
The tower bolt is a horizontally Mounted bolt or bar that slides or shoots to become engaged in a staple fitted into the frame. Fitted with screws and/or bolts to the inside of the door, a fastening of this type is inexpensive and makes for a good, secure door, especially if you have bolts on both the top and bottom of the door.

Top rail
The topmost horizontal rail of a framed and paneled door.
